Orhan Dervişoğlu, CFO of EFG Elektrik, shared his insights on the Turkish economy, the transformation of the energy sector, EFG’s global vision, and its R&D investments. “We now aim to become a global brand,” said Dervişoğlu, as he detailed the company’s strategic direction and financial position.

Introducing himself, Orhan Dervişoğlu noted that he was born in Siverek, Şanlıurfa, in 1970, began his professional career at Pamukbank in 1997, and served as a branch manager at Halkbank until the end of 2024. Noting that he had turned a new page in his career after retiring at the end of 2024, he said, “I have been serving as CFO at EFG since the beginning of May.” Dervişoğlu, noting that he is now applying the expertise he has gained over many years in the financial world to EFG’s growth strategy and international vision, stated that he has embarked on a new career phase alongside his two sons, who are university students, and his family.

“2025 HAS BEEN A SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT START FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD”

Noting that 2025 got off to a difficult start for both Turkey and the world, Dervişoğlu said that the new tariffs imposed following the presidential transition in the U.S. created a global supply shock. Noting that this shock directly affected Turkey, just as it did all other countries, he said, “Financing costs and wage increases carried over from 2024 created significant pressure across the entire industrial sector.” Recalling that EFG’s business model is tied to the investment schedules of energy distribution companies, Dervişoğlu noted that the sector naturally progresses at a slower pace in the first quarters of the year. However, he reported that in the first quarter of 2025, the market entered an exceptionally cutthroat competitive environment, adding, “We managed the process without losing market share but also without wearing ourselves out. In the second quarter, our revenue and profitability figures rebounded very strongly,” he said.
