Gazi Öke, Sales and Marketing Manager at EFG Elektrik: “We are playing a critical role in the energy transition”

EFG Elektrik is accelerating its growth strategies both domestically and internationally. Sales and Marketing Manager Gazi Öke discussed the company’s position in the energy transition, its export targets, how it meets customer expectations, and his advice for young people.

“WE’RE NO LONGER JUST REGIONAL—WE’RE PRESENT THROUGHOUT TURKEY”

What are the key developments at EFG Elektrik in sales and marketing recently?

We’ve been in business for 10 years. Our strategy is to enter various projects and sectors both domestically and internationally. Until a few years ago, EFG Elektrik was a regional company; however, we’ve now moved beyond that stage. As of today, we supply products to all regions of Turkey. We aim to achieve a similar position abroad as well.

“OUR PRODUCTS ARE AT THE HEART OF THE ENERGY TRANSITION”

The energy transition is a hot topic. Where does EFG Elektrik fit into this transition?

Our products are used in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution. Transformers and switching equipment are indispensable for the reliable and safe transmission of electricity. With the growing demand for energy, EFG Elektrik occupies a very critical position.

“INFRASTRUCTURE COMPATIBILITY IS OUR PRIORITY IN EXPORTS”

What are your export goals and strategy?

The overseas sales process is different from the one in Turkey. Our priority is ensuring that the infrastructure in target countries is compatible with our products. We select target markets by considering both technical and commercial factors. We then implement our export goals by establishing direct contact with companies.

“WE ARE AMONG THE TOP 5 MANUFACTURERS IN TURKEY”

How is EFG Elektrik positioning itself in an increasingly competitive environment?

Gazi Öke: There are around 15–20 manufacturers in Turkey. We are among the top 5 companies producing switching equipment. Our most significant advantage is that we manufacture critical components in-house. This provides both cost and supply advantages, which directly translate into customer satisfaction.

“THANKS TO R&D, WE RESPOND QUICKLY TO CUSTOMER REQUESTS”

How have customer expectations changed?

We can manufacture 80 percent of the product in-house. This allows us to provide very quick solutions to technical issues. Additionally, thanks to our R&D department, we can develop new products based on customer requests.

“WE ARE DEVELOPING ALTERNATIVES TO THE GREENHOUSE GAS SF6”

Could you tell us about your products in the area of sustainability?
S our current products use SF6 gas, but this gas will be banned starting in 2030. We are continuing our R&D efforts to develop systems that perform the same function without using SF6.

“CENTRAL ASIA, NORTH AFRICA, AND EASTERN EUROPE ARE OUR EXPORT PRIORITIES OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS”

What are your growth targets for the next 5 years?

We are currently exporting to Central Asia. We’re also in talks regarding North Africa and Eastern Europe. We aim to make significant exports to these regions within the next 5 years.

“FAST SERVICE KEEPS US CONNECTED TO OUR CUSTOMERS”

Do you have a memorable moment from your sales experience?

We had exported through an intermediary company abroad. A technical issue arose with the products. We took immediate action to provide service. The customer was very satisfied and directed all subsequent requests directly to us.

“NEARLY 100 PERCENT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IN TECHNICAL SERVICE”

What strategy underlies your technical service operations?

Service is critical for us. We can meet all service needs within 48 hours. In very urgent situations, we intervene immediately. In our customer satisfaction surveys, technical service is the area where we receive the highest feedback.

“THE ENERGY SECTOR NEEDS QUALIFIED YOUNG PEOPLE”

What advice do you have for young people who want to pursue a career in this sector?

I especially recommend that electrical engineers, technicians, and technical specialists enter this sector. This is because all companies are facing a shortage of qualified personnel. The energy sector is a field that never stops growing. There are tremendous opportunities for young people.
